Iconic moustachioed motivator Troy Hawke has sunseekers in stitches as he uncovers Brits’ weird and wonderful all-inclusive holiday habits.

The comedian recently visited a TUI resort in Turkey after a study found nine out of 10 people admit that their behaviour changes dramatically once they arrive at a destination where everything is included.

A similar number of people confessed to eating dishes they wouldn’t usually have at home – with seven out of 10 stating they surprise themselves with the bizarre food combinations they will try.

Troy, a character played by comedian Milo McCabe, paced around the pool in an attempt to engage sun lovers in conversation.

He urged them to try activities such as water polo and aqua aerobics, an all-inclusive ‘must-do’ for millions of holidaymakers each year.

Troy also advised one tourist: “Be bold with your buffet choices’’, as the grinning gentleman explains he had a mixture of meats for his dinner, leaving Troy to add, “You have the United Nations on one plate”.

The comedian then suggested trying unusual combos such as “sushi and beans, lobster and chips, taco and souvlaki”.

He also encouraged sunseekers to talk to others and find common ground with their sunbathing neighbours.

Troy thrilled holidaymakers as he toured the resort trying to guess where the guests were from.

And he even sledged someone as he joined in a game of ‘sticks’, declaring “Is there a particular technique? Not that you were effective in any way!”

Troy then unleashed his infamous banter on another man, who he told “Your toenails look wonderful. That looks like the type of pedicure you had while you were asleep.”

The TUI survey which prompted Troy’s visit was carried out among 1,000 holidaymakers who have been on an all-inclusive break.

While mixing meals at the buffet and making friends with other holidaymakers are among our favourite holiday hobbies, 43% said they often judge other diners’ food choices.

A cheeky 38% owned up to taking food back to the rooms when they’re not supposed to.

Taking the opportunity to learn something new is also common (15%).

Around three quarters (76%) of the holidaymakers who took part in the study stated they always dress up for the evening buffet and close to four out of 10 (38%) said they like to reserve the same table for every meal.

While 55% were happy to wear outfits they wouldn’t put on at home, one in three also said they often bare more flesh in swimwear abroad than they ever would back in the UK.

A whopping 29% state they read more books by the pool than they would at home with 22% admitting they will often put themselves in a food coma and go to bed earlier while on holiday.

Card games become a staple on holiday among 18% – the same percentage opt to dance more abroad than in Britain.

During the evening entertainment, 16% admit to losing themselves when the fun kicks off.

Of those asked, 14% of people added that karaoke will emerge as a holiday habit, with group activities such as water volleyball and aqua aerobics also enjoyed by 18%.

Unsurprisingly, around one in five (18%) were honest enough to admit they wait all year for a holiday – just to complain about the heat when they get there.

Peter Cross said on TikTok: “I summoned my inner Troy Hawke and ‘yes’ to water polo in Marrakech recently.
