A traveller was stunned to discover he was the only guest at a luxury resort on a “cursed” island.
TikToker Rubén Holgado travelled to Siquijor in the Philippines to soak up the sun and local culture.
But after two nights at the beautiful hotel, he realised no one else was there, as reported by Luxury Travel Daily.

The remote island of Siquijor has been renowned since ancient times as a centre of witchcraft, magic and folk healing.

It is famous for its therapies which blend Catholicism with shamanic practices such as potion-making, exorcism and herbal fumigation.
And “evil spirits” are said to live among the waterfalls and forests on the island.
“Guys, I’ve been sleeping in an abandoned luxury resort for two days and I just found out now,” Rubén, from Spain, said in a video posted to TikTok.

“We have a private beach where we can see the sunset super well and our own restaurant where we are alone.
“There is a pool where there is absolutely no one – and an abandoned tennis court.”
Rubén shared the video with his 328,100 followers where it gathered over 80,000 views.
He said while there was hotel staff working in the restaurant, he didn’t see one other guest.
The resort looks stunning, with its own private beach and a large swimming pool.
But inside his bedroom things were a little more untidy.
The bathroom was missing a door and the toilet didn’t seem to flush properly.
Rubén said: “When we came it already seemed very strange to us.
“Because we entered and saw that the place was huge, like Disney, but there was nothing.
“There are only employees in the restaurant.
“We are alone.”
In his video, Rubén said that the resort opened six years ago before suddenly closing.
It has since re-opened but parts of it are still being renovated.
