As part of its bicentennial celebration, The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia will open two new exhibits, Hamilton Collections Gallery and Body Odyssey, on November 23, 2024.
These exhibits mark a significant milestone in the museum’s transformation, highlighting the Baldwin Locomotive and the iconic Giant Heart as centerpieces of innovation and discovery.

The Hamilton Collections Gallery, a $12 million project, offers unprecedented public access to hundreds of artifacts, including the Baldwin 60000 Locomotive, Benjamin Franklin’s inventions, and the Wright Brothers’ wing models.
The gallery’s inaugural exhibit, 200 Stories for 200 Years, features interactive storytelling, connecting diverse scientific breakthroughs across two centuries.
Body Odyssey, an $8.5 million immersive exhibit, showcases the intricacies of the human body, featuring the Giant Heart in a revamped display.
Visitors will explore biological systems, biotech innovations, and mental health, with hands-on experiences highlighting cutting-edge technologies like AI and robotic surgery.
These exhibits kick off a new era for the Institute, setting the stage for future exhibits focused on earth systems, robotics, and computer science.
