Princess Cruises’ newest ship, the Sun Princess, arrived in Ft. Lauderdale this week, marking its North American debut following a successful inaugural season in the Mediterranean.
The 177,882-ton ship, which accommodates 4,300 guests, was introduced in February 2024 and is now set to sail seven-day Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises from Port Everglades through April 2025.

The ship’s North American debut comes after a grand naming ceremony in Barcelona, where actress Hannah Waddingham officially christened the vessel. Known for its innovative design and luxurious offerings, Sun Princess has been celebrated as a next-level “Love Boat,” winning the top spot in the Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards for Mega Cruise ships in the U.S.
President of Princess Cruises, John Padgett, highlighted the significance of the ship’s Caribbean season, stating, “We are proud to be home-porting this remarkable ship in Ft. Lauderdale and look forward to introducing new guests to the most impressive, luxurious and stunning Love Boat ever created.”
Featuring 30 dining and bar venues, Sun Princess boasts an impressive culinary lineup, including restaurants from renowned chefs like Makoto Okuwa and Dario Cecchini, along with collaborations with celebrities such as Matthew McConaughey and Pitbull. Entertainment onboard includes acrobatic performances, immersive shows, and the latest in theater technology.
The ship is also the first in the Princess fleet to be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), supporting the company’s commitment to sustainability.
Cruises aboard the Sun Princess are now available for booking, with itineraries covering both the Caribbean and Mediterranean regions.
