Luxury expedition cruise line Silversea has announced plans to develop a hotel in Puerto Williams, Chile—the southernmost city on Earth.

The new hotel aims to enhance guests’ Antarctic experience by offering a seamless, high-end journey to the continent’s rugged landscape. This development will also support Silversea’s exclusive Antarctica Bridge fly-cruise program, the quickest and most direct route to Antarctica.

Scheduled for completion by the end of 2025, the 150-room hotel will be built in partnership with a consortium of Chilean investors.

Overlooking the Beagle Channel, it will offer breathtaking views of the snow-capped Patagonian mountains and feature amenities including a restaurant, bar, fitness center, and a gift shop showcasing local artisans’ work.

Silversea’s president, Bert Hernandez, said the project will “enhance the Antarctic travel experience” by removing traditional barriers for travelers to this remote region.

As the only cruise line homeporting in Puerto Williams during the Antarctic season, Silversea offers guests an ideal gateway to the continent’s uninhabited islands, icy landscapes, and abundant wildlife.

The hotel’s groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Chilean government representatives and local stakeholders, with Silversea committing to sustainable development in the area.

The company plans to foster long-term partnerships with local communities to support economic growth while preserving the cultural heritage of Puerto Williams.

The new hotel will further strengthen Silversea’s leadership in luxury polar expeditions, complementing its diverse range of Antarctic voyages aboard ships like Silver Endeavour and Silver Cloud. Guests can enjoy personalized service, including butler service for every suite, spacious accommodations, and expert-led expeditions.

For those seeking a quicker start to their Antarctic adventure, the Antarctica Bridge fly-cruise program allows travelers to skip the Drake Passage and fly directly to the continent.

Silversea, a subsidiary of Royal Caribbean Group, is recognized for its world-class luxury cruise experiences across seven continents.
