Seattle rang in 2025 with the West Coast’s largest New Year’s celebration, Alaska Airlines New Year’s at the Needle, featuring a spectacular combination of drones, fireworks, and music.
Thousands gathered at Seattle Center, while viewers across the West Coast, from San Diego to Portland, tuned in to watch the event live.
At 11:52 PM, 500 drones illuminated the sky with creative formations, including Alaska Airlines’ tailfin, a San Diego surfer, and an octopus wrapping around the Space Needle.

At midnight, the largest structurally launched pyrotechnic display in North America erupted, accompanied by the Needle’s brightest light show to date, featuring 160 custom fixtures.
Seattle band Sugar Bones performed live, debuting their song Leave the Light On, while the soundtrack included hits from Beyoncé, Sabrina Carpenter, and local artist Benson Boone. Alaska Airlines, this year’s presenting sponsor, added to the festivities with giveaways and special promotions.
Broadcast across major regional networks and simulcast on iHeart Radio’s HITS 106.1, the event highlighted Seattle’s status as a New Year’s Eve destination. “This show is a cherished tradition for Seattle and now, the entire West Coast,” said Randy Coté, Chief Marketing Officer for the Space Needle.
