On 4th October 2024, British-Nepali mountaineer Nimsdai Purja reached the summit of Shishapangma alongside renowned climber Mingma G, completing his climb of all 14 peaks above 8,000 meters without supplementary oxygen.
Nimsdai set a new world record, completing the feat in 2 years, 4 months, and 28 days, while also becoming the fastest and only person to achieve the 14 peaks both with and without oxygen, doing so in just over five years.

Just five days later, on 9th October, Nimsdai returned to Shishapangma for his 50th summit of an 8,000-meter peak, dedicating this milestone to the UK, Nepal, the Gurkhas, and UKSF.
Former British Commando Tejan Gurung also reached the summit on the same day, becoming the youngest British male to complete the 14 Peaks challenge at 29 years old.
Nimsdai dedicated his record-breaking achievements to his family and the late Anna Gutu and Mingmar Sherpa, who tragically died in an avalanche on Shishapangma in 2023.
His success, he said, is a tribute to their legacy and a testament to resilience and determination. “My mission has always been to raise the name of the Big Mountain communities and inspire people to believe in their dreams,” Nimsdai reflected.
