Motorlux, an event hosted by Hagerty, once again set the tone for Monterey Car Week with a luxurious gathering at the Monterey Jet Center on August 14, 2024. The event attracted 4,100 guests, offering an exclusive showcase of 225 enthusiast vehicles and 14 aircraft, all complemented by culinary masterpieces from 25 local chefs.
This year’s Motorlux was highlighted by the first day of the Broad Arrow Auction, which introduced a unique runway-inspired auction format. The innovative setup featured dual viewing galleries, allowing bidders and guests to fully engage with the auction in a lively party atmosphere.

The event featured thematic automotive installations paired with specialty food and drinks, including exhibits like “Adventure Machines” with overland vehicles, “American Graffiti” paying tribute to midcentury hot rods, and “British Invasion” celebrating the 100th anniversary of Morris Garages Limited. A highlight was the “Honoring Marcello Gandini” exhibit, which showcased the work of one of Italy’s greatest car designers.
Aircraft also played a significant role at Motorlux, with displays including vintage fighters, private jets, and helicopters. Notably, the event featured a P-51D Mustang known as “Plum Crazy” and a Citation 560XLS adorned with a unique floral livery.
“Motorlux exemplifies the perfect blend of luxury and community spirit,” said Peter Fink, Hagerty’s Vice President of Events and Experiences. He praised the event for uniting automotive and aviation enthusiasts to celebrate the world’s finest vehicles, aircraft, and local cuisine.
Broad Arrow Auctions returned for its third annual sale, generating $71.5 million over two days with an 85% sell-through rate.
