Mammut, the outdoor sports company, has teamed up with Klimate, ARC, Bofort, and Carbonaide to launch an innovative carbon dioxide (CO2) removal and storage project.

This ambitious initiative, supported by world-renowned climber Adam Ondra, marks a significant milestone in climate action by capturing CO2 emissions and storing them in concrete.

As part of its commitment to reducing environmental impact, Mammut is aiming to halve its emissions by 2030 and achieve net zero by 2050 under its “Do Our Best, Remove the Rest” strategy. In partnership with Danish tech start-up Klimate, the company plans to decarbonize 90 tons of CO2 by 2025.

The process involves capturing CO2 from ARC’s waste-to-energy plant in Copenhagen, transporting it in liquefied form via Bofort to Finland, where Carbonaide permanently binds it in concrete production.

The project’s visual centerpiece features Adam Ondra scaling CopenHill, one of the tallest climbing routes in the world, symbolizing the sporting community’s dedication to environmental stewardship. As Mads Emil Dalsgaard, Co-CEO of Klimate, stated, this collaboration is just the start, paving the way for larger-scale carbon capture efforts in the future.

This groundbreaking initiative not only showcases cutting-edge climate technology but also underscores Mammut’s ongoing leadership in environmental responsibility.
