A new survey from International Medical Group (IMG) shows strong international travel plans for 2025, with 96% of respondents planning to travel abroad and 51% expecting to take three or more international trips. Domestic travel remains popular, with 85% of travelers planning at least one U.S. trip.
Urban tourism (53%) and visiting family abroad (51%) top the list of preferred trip types, followed by beach vacations and rural tourism.

Solo travel continues to rise, with 48% planning solo trips, while business travel has increased by 7% from last year, with many opting for “bleisure” travel—adding leisure time to work trips. Multigenerational travel also remains strong, with 34% of families planning trips spanning multiple generations.
Travel spending is expected to rise, with 29% of respondents planning to spend more than in 2024. Top travel concerns include illness or accidents abroad, trip cancellations, and travel disruptions.
Canada, Italy, Mexico, Japan, and France rank as the most popular destinations for 2025. “Understanding these trends helps us better serve travelers,” said Steve Paraboschi, IMG President and CEO.
