Ho Chi Minh City has launched its 2nd River Festival on a grander scale, solidifying its status as a dynamic riverine metropolis steeped in cultural and historical richness.
The festival’s opening event, “Legendary Voyage,” transformed Khanh Hoi Port into a mesmerizing spectacle for 9,000 attendees. The performance featured over 1,000 artists, using 3D mapping and drone shows to deliver a captivating historical narrative.
The festival celebrates river life through various cultural activities. Highlights include a recreated Mekong Delta floating market, “Trên Bến Dưới Thuyền” fruit week with boats filled with flowers and fruits, Southern folk songs, and traditional games.

Exciting water sports events, such as open-water swimming and stand-up paddleboarding championships, along with thrilling demonstrations like SUP paddling, Flyboarding, and paragliding over the Saigon River, offer visitors an exhilarating experience.
Le Loi Street (District 1) hosts a culinary area with 24 booths presenting regional Vietnamese specialties. Visitors can enjoy traditional dishes that showcase the nation’s rich culinary heritage.
The festival concludes with a grand finale featuring 1,100 drones synchronized with laser lights, a water sports performance involving 100 athletes and 100 sports vehicles, and a majestic parade of cruise boats on the Saigon River. This spectacular event, known as the “Sparkling River,” highlights traditional Vietnamese cranes and the WE LOVE HO CHI MINH CITY symbols, inspiring both locals and tourists.
The River Festival 2024 not only leaves a lasting impression but also significantly boosts tourism, reflecting the vibrant spirit of Ho Chi Minh City.
