Wildcat Management, spearheaded by real estate developer Tanya Ragan, has announced the sale of the Historic Liberty Building in Dallas, Texas. This landmark structure, originally purchased for $1, was meticulously relocated brick by brick from Elm Street to 600 S Harwood to facilitate a downtown road expansion.
As the oldest building in Downtown Dallas, the 115-year-old Liberty Building held significant historical value. Recognizing this, Ragan negotiated with the city to move the building to the Dallas Farmers Market. The successful relocation was a pivotal moment for Ragan, indicating that creating inviting spaces can draw people in. Overcoming various challenges, Ragan’s team secured an agreement with the city to purchase the building for one dollar, contingent on its timely relocation.

Ragan employed contractors and archivists to disassemble and reassemble the building brick by brick, preserving its original architecture, including the corner entry, columns, and cast iron features discovered during the move.
“This project is very symbolic to me,” Ragan said. “It’s not about the sale of the building itself but about what it represented during that time. The experiences of the last 18 years and the evolution of my life and career are all encapsulated in this endeavor.”
The sale of the Liberty Building marks a significant moment in Dallas’s history preservation and downtown revitalization—an effort Ragan has championed for 18 years. While the sale price remains undisclosed, Ragan confirmed it was substantially more than $1. She also hinted at future preservation projects.
