Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, became the focus of global attention last night as Miral and The Walt Disney Company announced the region’s first-ever Disney theme park resort.
The reveal was celebrated with a record-breaking 9,000-drone light show, fireworks, and performances by pianist Lang Lang, Emirati singer Rashed Alnuaimi, West End star Kerry Ellis, and soprano Sonya Balsara.
The event drew celebrities including Tyrese Gibson, Naomi Campbell, Nancy Ajram, Chiara Ferragni, and Ed Westwick, along with dignitaries and industry leaders, all gathered to witness this historic milestone.

The upcoming resort will be Disney’s seventh worldwide and its first in the Middle East and Africa, connecting travelers from across the region and beyond.
It will blend Disney’s iconic storytelling with Abu Dhabi’s culture and landscape, developed by Miral with Disney Imagineers overseeing creative and operational design.
To mark the occasion, landmarks such as the Burj Khalifa and Aldar HQ were lit in Disney-inspired displays. The announcement further positions Yas Island as a global hub for entertainment and tourism, with more details to follow as development continues.
