The Dallas Zoo is hosting Dino Lumina, the world’s first dinosaur park to feature life-sized projections on invisible screens, immersing visitors in a prehistoric world of walking, running, and battling dinosaurs.

Created by LA-based PaintScaping, a global leader in 3D projection mapping, this groundbreaking experience runs through Monday, January 6, 2025.

Unlike traditional animatronics, PaintScaping’s cutting-edge CGI brings dinosaurs to life with unprecedented realism. Guests encounter raptors clashing, pterodactyls soaring, and a silent T. rex breathing nearby.

The park features a 3D soundscape crafted by Oscar-winner Sylvain Bellemare (Arrival), and 12 high-powered Christie projectors, delivering a multisensory adventure.

Philippe Bergeron, PaintScaping’s CEO and a CGI pioneer, previously collaborated with Daniel Langlois of Jurassic Park fame. “No one has ever seen dinosaurs in real life—or the illusion of them—until now,” Bergeron remarked.

The Dallas Zoo, a longtime PaintScaping partner, celebrates this as its most ambitious project yet. “Dino Lumina is a one-of-a-kind experience that combines vision and technology,” said Sean Greene, COO of the Dallas Zoo.

A special event on Saturday, January 4, will feature Bergeron and Jurassic Park T. rex animator Steve “Spaz” Williams, welcoming guests.
