A new analysis by Bloom Consulting for esencial COSTA RICA reveals that Costa Rica has solidified its global standing through significant growth in tourism, exports, and investment.
Based on over 12.4 million searches, the 2022-2023 study highlights Costa Rica’s alignment with sustainability principles and its position as a leader in clean energy and ecotourism, key aspects of its 2035 Strategy.

Key Findings
- Tourism Boom: Tourism-related searches reached 11 million, with the United States accounting for nearly 50%, followed by Canada and Germany. Popular niches include ecotourism, surfing, and luxury travel. Activities like bird watching, hiking, and exploring national parks are especially appealing to international travelers.
- Export Growth: Export-related searches increased by 8%, driven by demand for products like coffee (+16%), flowers, and cocoa (+20%). Costa Rica’s export supply remains competitive in Europe and North America.
- Investment Appeal: Searches for investment topics rose by 17%, reflecting interest in areas such as labor costs, port infrastructure, and clean energy. This growth underscores Costa Rica’s attractiveness to international investors.
A Resilient Digital Identity
Costa Rica’s digital footprint stands strong, with 83% of searches linked to content generated by official sources, ensuring consistency between global perception and the country’s offerings. Tourism searches have surged 42% compared to pre-pandemic levels, reflecting a strong recovery and heightened global interest.
