The travel agency, established by Jess and Laurie Gardener, opened its doors on May 27, bringing over nine years of combined industry experience to this idyllic seaside town in Cornwall.
The couple, inspired by their two sons, will specialize in luxury and Disney holidays, a passion that grew from their own globetrotting experiences as a young family.
The Gardener’s extensive network includes over 200 suppliers, ensuring they offer personalized and competitive quotes. Their client base is already loyal, consisting of friends, family, and Jess’s former customers from her time at Newells Travel in Newquay and Co-Op Travel in Radstock.
While L&K Travel won’t turn anyone away, their focus will be on luxury travel, with close relationships with top suppliers such as Cunard, Silversea, Celebrity Cruises, and If Only. The couple’s vast travel experience, having visited over 20 destinations, provides them with the expertise to plan memorable holidays.

Jess emphasizes the importance of luxury in their business, aiming for it to comprise at least 60% of their offerings. “When people think of bucket list trips, I want them to think of us,” she tells TTG Luxury.
The VIP treatment begins in their Newquay store, which is designed to put clients in the holiday mood even before they browse a brochure. “Our location is fantastic,” Jess says. “It’s warm and inviting, very private, and the view overlooking Towan Beach is spectacular.” The store’s interior is beautifully decorated to create a luxury atmosphere, where customers are greeted with refreshments and personalized branded ticket wallets upon booking.
L&K Travel prides itself on going the extra mile for clients, offering complimentary bottles of wine, fruit baskets, late checkouts, and room upgrades without the customer having to ask. “We want to push the boundaries so that the client remembers us and says, ‘Wow, that was a really lovely gesture,’” Jess explains.
In addition to providing premium service, Jess and Laurie have immersed themselves in the Newquay community, partnering with local traders to promote their brand. Local surf schools have shown incredible support, collaborating with L&K Travel to create surf packages and allowing advertisements on their rash vests.
Two local photographers have also helped the couple develop high-quality marketing materials. “We’re not a hard sell – we want to make and create something perfect for you, something that you’re going to remember for years to come,” Jess says.
To raise awareness of L&K Travel, especially ahead of the busy summer season, Jess and Laurie hosted a promotional day on May 25 in Killacourt, Newquay. The event attracted over 100 attendees, including the Mayor of Newquay, who cut a ribbon to celebrate the launch.
The day featured live music by C Bone, free ice cream, goodie bags, a brochure display, bouncy castles for kids, and a raffle supporting RNLI Newquay.
Looking ahead, Jess and Laurie aim to grow their business significantly over the next few years. While content with their current location, they are considering upgrading to a larger premises and hiring additional staff. “It’s just myself and my husband at the moment, but we are planning to expand,” Jess adds. “When the opportunity arises, we’ll 100% be getting bigger and better!”
