Academy Sports + Outdoors opens its first stores in Pennsylvania and Maryland, surpassing 300 locations and supporting local communities with donations and job creation.

Academy Sports + Outdoors has surpassed 300 stores nationwide, marking the milestone with its first-ever locations in Pennsylvania and Maryland.

The retailer opened new stores in York, Harrisburg, and Hagerstown, expanding its presence to 21 states. Additional openings in Kansas City, Missouri, and Charlotte, North Carolina, are part of the company’s plan to launch 20–25 stores during fiscal 2025.

To support the communities around its new stores, Academy is donating over $40,000 to local Boys & Girls Clubs, benefiting more than 350 children.

NFL star Micah Parsons and Pittsburgh Panthers running back Juelz Goff helped celebrate the Pennsylvania openings by taking 200 kids on shopping sprees.

Academy, a full-line sporting goods and outdoor recreation retailer founded in 1938, offers a wide selection of national and private label brands across outdoor, apparel, sports, and footwear categories. The five new stores are expected to create approximately 300 jobs.
