Colombia has launched the “Runways of Hidden Beauty” campaign to promote its natural and cultural richness by enhancing air connectivity to remote regions.
As part of the National Government’s tourism strategy, around 20 airstrips will be upgraded across five major tourism zones: the Greater Caribbean, Pacific, Amazon-Orinoquía, Massif, and Eastern Andes.
The initiative aims to make lesser-known destinations like Tolú and Bahía Solano more accessible, positioning Colombia as a top global travel destination. Improvements in these areas have already begun, with the Civil Aviation Authority spearheading upgrades to local airstrips.

The campaign, promoted under the hashtags #HiddenBeauty and #BellezaEscondida, targets both traditional markets like the US, UK, and France, and emerging ones such as the Netherlands and Italy.
Tolú, located in Sucre, is celebrated for its serene beaches, biodiversity, and access to sites like the San Bernardo Islands, Coveñas mangroves, and the Paramillo National Park.
Bahía Solano in the Pacific region offers unmatched eco-tourism, including whale watching, jungle hikes, and guided trails with Indigenous Emberá communities. Eco-lodges and sustainable hotels are also gaining popularity in the area.
Backed by tour operators and Military Engineers, the campaign not only promotes tourism but seeks to drive socio-economic growth in isolated communities. “This initiative will transform lives by bringing travelers and opportunities to Colombia’s most remote regions,” said ProColombia President Carmen Caballero.
