Nakheel, a key member of Dubai Holding’s real estate arm, has awarded an AED 810 million contract to Jan De Nul Dredging LTD for extensive marine works on Palm Jebel Ali.

This contract marks a significant step forward in the ambitious development of the iconic island, which is part of Dubai’s broader vision outlined in the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan.

The awarded contract includes dredging, land reclamation, beach profiling, and sand placement, all essential to the construction of villas across Palm Jebel Ali’s fronds.

Jan De Nul Dredging is expected to complete these marine works in just over two years, with the first eight fronds projected to be site-ready by the first quarter of 2025. This will pave the way for the commencement of villa infrastructure and civil works.

This development follows Nakheel’s recent award of two major infrastructure contracts, including the construction of a new public access road and enhancements to roadways and lighting from the mainland to Palm Jebel Ali.

Revealed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Palm Jebel Ali is envisioned as a luxury destination offering an array of lifestyle amenities. This project is a key element of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, highlighting the expansion of the Jebel Ali area as a new growth corridor in the emirate.

Palm Jebel Ali, which launched over 700 units of its Phase 1 frond villas last year, will feature a mix of indoor and outdoor living spaces set in a serene coastal environment. The island will span 13.4 kilometers with 16 fronds and 91 kilometers of beachfront, contributing to the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan’s goal of expanding public beach access. The first homes are scheduled for handover by late 2026.
