Colombia has solidified its position as the leading destination for U.S. visitors in South America, thanks to its commitment to showcasing its extraordinary biodiversity and rich cultural heritage. Recently honored as the Best Afro Tourist Destination in the World at the World Travel Market (WTM), Colombia continues to attract global recognition for its vibrant cultural offerings.

Carmen Caballero, President of ProColombia, emphasized the nation’s diverse beauty, which spans six regions, with Cali emerging as a key attraction. “Known for its cultural heritage and festivals like the Petronio Álvarez and the Cali Fair in December, Cali is a place where every beat tells a story,” Caballero remarked.

The festival showcases traditional instruments, Pacific cuisine, and handcrafted goods, and is expected to attract over 500,000 visitors, providing a significant boost to the local economy.

Daniel García-Peña, Ambassador of Colombia to the U.S., highlighted the importance of Afro-Colombian communities in the Pacific region, noting their role in global conservation efforts. “Their stewardship is not just a local treasure but a global model for sustainability. This Festival provides the perfect stage to showcase these traditions,” García-Peña stated.
