The 28th National Winter Swimming Championships concluded on November 10 at Jingpo Lake in Mudanjiang, Heilongjiang Province, drawing nearly 700 winter swimmers from across China and underscoring the region’s snow-ice tourism appeal.
Set against the stunning backdrop of Jingpo Lake, participants showcased skill and endurance, captivating visitors and promoting winter tourism in northeast China.

Swimmers and spectators alike were enchanted by the scenic lake and warm local hospitality. Bao Rongqing, leading a team from Xinjiang, expressed his team’s enthusiasm for the lake’s unique beauty, noting that they plan to encourage fellow winter swimming enthusiasts to visit.
This event joins a growing list of sports hosted at Jingpo Lake, including ice marathons and dragon boat races, reflecting the area’s strategy to leverage its cold-climate attractions.
Designated as a national sports tourism base in 2022, Jingpo Lake has used these events to transform visitor traffic into sustained tourism, showcasing how sports can drive economic and cultural vibrancy in winter destinations.
